NIH Technical Assistance Programs

A cornerstone of the SBIR and STTR programs is helping companies move along the path of commercialization, with an emphasis on reducing technology risk and increasing the value proposition. NIDA participates in NIH’s Niche Assessment Program, Commercialization Accelerator Program (CAP) and the new Innovation Corps (I-Corps™) Program. 

The Innovation Corps (I-Corps™) is not currently accepting applications from NIH and CDC SBIR/STTR Phase I Awardees. Please see previous funding opportunities for background and additional details [PA-18-517]. 

The Niche Assessment Program and Commercialization Accelerator Program (CAP) are avaialbe in the Fall. 

NIH SBIR/STTR Niche Assessment Program   (NAP)

The program provides active Phase I awardees with market research, and consumer and competition analysis. Topics include: new applications for the developed technology; value proposition and new markets for possible entry. Registration is on first come, first serve basis.

NIH SBIR/STTR Commercialization Accelerator Program (CAP)

The program trains Phase II awardees on how to be market ready. Topics include: market entry; strategic partnerships; FDA regulatory requirements; financing strategies; investor pitches and IP matters. Registration is for Phase II awardees.
